ORAL VITAMINS VS IV THERAPY VITAMINS

It’s simple, IV hydration and vitamin therapy works more effectively and faster.  Oral Vitamin goes through your digestive system and IV goes directly where it needs to go, YOUR VEINS!  Because it skips your stomach, more absorption goes into your body from the vitamins instead of only a 50% absorption rate from your gut!  You feel better immediately and balance is restored to your health and wellness.

You want to know what IV hydration therapy is and what it can do for you.  Everyone is a candidate for IV therapy services, even those who are in good health!  VAP opened its IV hydration and vitamin therapy infusion center in Omaha, NE.

Do IV fluids work faster than drinking water?

IV fluids work faster because they enter your bloodstream directly meaning the effects of hydration begin immediately, so you fell better faster than when you simply drink a cup of water.

How long will IV fluids and nutrients stay in my system?

This, unfortunately, is not a direct question.  Several factors can make or break fluid retention.  Fluid retention is different than nutrient retention.  A whole 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated!  That is a large number.  Excess water will pass through the body and into the toilet more quickly for those hydrated.  They can be in your body for a few hours if you are more hydrated (ill remind you that most people are chronically dehydrated) to about a day.

Hydration status depends on how hydrated you are in the first place but has nothing to do with the vitamins of IV nutrition therapy.  Even if fluids from IV therapy are gone, Nutrients are retained in the body for much longer.  They can stay in the body for days, weeks, or even months.  This depends on what the body needs and what infusion cocktail you receive.

How long does IV Hydration work??

In our infusion Center, you register ahead of time so the IV medications you will be received are already. Once your IV is started the medication will drip in over about 30-45 minutes.

How much IV fluid should I receive if I am dehydrated?

If you feel you are truly dehydrated, you need to reach out to your care provider to rule out the cause of the dehydration. Severely dehydrated patients can have as much as a 10% fluid deficit.

Why are vitamins and antioxidants important?

All our bodies need a consistent number of vitamins and minerals to promote homeostasis and optimal health. Vitamin deficiencies can lead to acute or chronic conditions. Antioxidants are an essential part of maintaining a healthy immune system, detoxifying your body, and removing free radicals that can contribute to cellular damage as well as playing a part in your energy level.

Is your Center open on the weekends or after work?

We are here to meet your needs. You register in advance. We are not open 24/7 but special requests can be made if you are having trouble getting the right day or time to work to 855-742-2827 option 1.

Advocate for yourself, your loved ones, and your patients to make sure the right type of vascular access is used to provide the infusion therapy and eliminate a delay.

Should athletes receive IV hydration?

Prevention and treatment of dehydration and exercise associated muscle cramps is important to the competitive athlete so there is not a decline in their athletic performance. IV prehydration and rehydration has been proposed as an ergogenic aid to achieve euhydration more effectively and efficiently.

What is IV hydration?

IV hydration therapy involves inserting an IV or intravenous catheter into an arm vein and connecting it to fluids.  These fluids can then go directly into your bloodstream.  Because the liquids are allowed to circulate in the body’s blood directly, hydration is more immediate than just taking a drink and enables the body to become hydrated very quickly.

What are the reasons for receiving IV Hydration Therapy??

There are many reasons why people can seek out IV hydration therapy.  Dehydration is usually the number one.  Symptoms of dehydration can involve a dry mouth, headache, nausea, fatigue, dizziness, dark urine, and a constant feeling of thirst.  We mentioned being dehydrated, but that can’t be the only reason IV fluids can help.  What about those who have frequent migraines? What about those going out for a great bachelor/bachelorette party and knowing they will be drinking?  Recent Stomach bug?  Planning on working outside in the sun? Running a marathon soon? Need some stress relief? How about taking a long trip and drinking a lot on the way is not an option because stopping at every rest stop will make the constant sounds of “are we there yet” more terrifying?  These are just some examples of why IV hydration can benefit everyone!

What if I don't have any chronic health conditions?

No matter what age or state of health, added IV nutrients could help.  Some other benefits of adding nutrition to IV hydration are increased immunity, a boost of energy, improved vision, relaxation, balancing hormones, body detox, smooth skin, and improved circulation.  EVERYONE can benefit from IV hydration and Nutrition therapy, no matter how healthy.

Why is the IV bag discolored?

Vitamins, electrolytes, and antioxidants can be added to the fluids for a better benefit and cause the usually clear Normal Saline to be discolored.

What is it like to get IV Fluids?

Besides the initial pinch of the IV start, IV hydration is a relaxing experience.  Depending on what infusion is administered, the fluids take approximately 45 minutes to an hour to get into the bloodstream.  While you are waiting, you can sit back and relax.  There is immediate relief of symptoms when the fluids are done, and full benefits are felt appropriately 2-4 hours after leaving.  This process is completely safe and proven to be effective.

Why can't I drink some water?

Hydration is essential, and the human body needs to be hydrated to complete its crucial daily functions that we all learned about in science class. Thirst is the body signaling that it needs water.  When dehydration happens, drinking water is what everyone thinks is best.  It can take hours for the body to absorb the fluid because it does not get absorbed by the large intestine until the end of the digestive tract.  Drinking a lot of fluids in a short amount of time can also cause other problems like digestive system pain and causes electrolyte imbalances.

Why can't diabetics have the dexamethasone as part of their Infusion in the Infusion Center?

Diabetics have trouble controlling their blood sugar. Steroids, like dexamethasone, can cause a spike in blood sugar levels by making the liver resistant to insulin. Usually once you are no longer taking steroids the blood sugars can easily be controlled. Vascular Access Plus does not provide steroid infusion options to diabetics or prediabetics without an order from their provider.

Will it hurt when I get an IV started?

We cannot eliminate your pain, but we can minimize it. Our nurses are all experienced in starting an IV. Each nurse has a 2-stick limit when sticking a patient as well as Vascular Access Specialist on call as resources for troubleshooting and skills with ultrasound guidance for starting the IV 24/7.
